My qoute on "Good Form"

I like how in the book he kind of puts a twist on what he says in the "Good Form"because he says"I want you to know why story-truth is truer sometimes than happening-truth." That means that you could probably believe a lie before the truth sometimes because of what you see in that person or believe in that person.

My responds on the copyright page

He's says this is a fiction book because most of the stuff he say is more fiction then true. But in "Good Form" he's said he didn't ever kill a man but he was there. I think he did kill the man but he wants us to see that story truth can be more real then the original truth because if you think of it he doesn't even sound like a man that would shoot another man in his head but he did it. It affects the novel because it puts more of a twist in the book.

My respond to "Good Form"

In this chapter good form he says that he didn't kill the man but he say even that story is made up he did but I think what he is trying to say is he's been in the war because he was a soldier but it's been so long that he's killed anyone he made himself forget about ever doing it. So he is pretty much is trying to forget about killing someone.

Quotation on the chapter speaking of courage

The quote that stood out to me the most was when Norman said "I almost won the silver star" that had me wondering because this man has 7 metals of bravery and honor and he wanted the silver star out of all of them that must mean that silver star must mean more then all the metals he's gotten.

Why is this story in the book? What is the point of telling it?

I think this story is in this book because it a war book and what would a war book be without any bravely put in it. It also told us how brave some of the soldiers were and what some of them got for their bravery. I think the point of telling this story is so the ones who died aren't forgotten.

My responds to speaking of courage

I think this chapter was about courage and bravely because Norman was in the war and he earn not 1 not 2 but 7 metals for being brave I think that very honorable.

Why this book is important to today or what it has in common with today

What this book has in common with today is that we are in war just as they are in this book and soldier dying for there country. It also relates how it feels be on the barracks and on the battle feild in a soldiers eyes.

What stood out for me when the Guest speakers came

It learned some pretty interesting things like the first guest speaker told us how the army in vented the 45.cal because he said in India when they were in war with the turks. They would tie ropes around their stomachs not to stop the bullet but make sure their guts and intestine wouldn't fall out. Because the little 22.cal wasn't killing them right away and they would still be able to run up and cut American soldiers. So they decided to make a bigger and more powerful pistol it was the 45.cal this on had some kick to it so when the turk got shot they flew back that was very interesting to me.

My thoughts on the "The Things That Carried"

I like the book because I pretty much like book that are based on warfare and have some excitement to it. Like when I read a few chapters of this book I was kind of stuck in because it keep me guessing what was going to happen next.
